Abigail, Age 4

Abigail, Age 4

Abigail is an adorable 4-year-old girl who has cerebral palsy due to hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy from a birth injury. She is significantly developmentally delayed and non-verbal. Abigail’s physical therapist recommended that she do a physical intensive therapy program. Unfortunately, her health insurance does not cover the costs and her family cannot afford the therapy on their own.

MPFC awarded a $1,500 grant to Abigail to Sarasota Pediatric Physical Therapy. The therapy sessions will last 2 hours a day for 5 days. Some of Abigail’s goals for therapy currently is for her to walk independently, self-feed, crawl, sit to stand, pick up objects and hold the item for an extended amount of time, and communicate to us using switch devices or tablet. We cannot wait to see Abigail reach her goals!

Wow we are so grateful and ecstatic about this news! Thank you so much! This is such a big help for us! We are excited to see what impact this intensive therapy will have on Abigail.”- Ashley, Abigail’s Mom
