Sundt Foundation Awards Grant to Support Children with Disabilities

We are thrilled to announce that MPFC has been honored with a generous $5,610 grant from the Sundt Foundation. This meaningful contribution helped fund our vital therapy program that provides children living with physical, developmental, and cognitive challenges with the crucial resources and guidance they need to flourish.

Changing Lives: A Personal Impact

Thanks to the Sundt Foundation’s generosity, the following children experienced meaningful progress—and their families experienced relief, joy, and hope for their future.

Cole W. (CA)-  Because of your generous grant, MPFC was able to contribute $1,250 toward Cole’s two-week intensive therapy program at LEAP this September. During these sessions, Cole made meaningful progress—gaining strength, improving coordination, and enhancing his feeding abilities. Born with a severe brain injury and facing numerous challenges including vision and hearing impairments, global delays, and G-tube feeding, Cole continues to defy the odds. Thanks to your support, his family is one step closer to helping him achieve greater independence and a better quality of life.

Vincent V. (CA)-  Your grant helped MPFC contribute $1,500 toward Vincent’s hippotherapy sessions. These sessions are held on a weekly basis over the course of 3 months. Vincent has a neurodevelopmental genetic condition that affects his motor skills and speech, leading to challenges with balance, posture, and communication. Through hippotherapy, he’s been improving his balance, muscle tone, posture, and vocabulary—helping him gain confidence and reach new milestones in his development.

Vincent’s Mother, Angelica Wrote:

Vincent is better able to participate in physical activities at daycare with his peers and more independently able to navigate playground equipment to explore his environment. MPFC was able to remove the financial burden of accessing an evidence-based therapy that HealthPartners insurance refused to cover. We have seen wonderful improvements in Vincent’s development as a result of his participation in hippotherapy. We are so grateful to MPFC for their generosity.

Maia H. (AZ) – Your grant helped MPFC contribute $1,350 toward Maia’s two-week DMI intensive therapy in April. Maia has SMA Type 1, which causes significant muscle weakness and challenges with gross motor skills. Thanks to your support, she was able to participate in specialized therapy that strengthens her body and supports her continued progress

Elizabeth, Maia’s Mother Wrote:

Maia was not expected to be able to sit up, stand, walk, roll, crawl, etc. MPFC is helping Maia gain the strength and neural pathways for motor skills that we were told she would never accomplish.

Lucas D. (CA)- Lucas is a 4-year-old boy living with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, and epilepsy, found joy and connection through music therapy thanks to the Sundt Grant. For three months, he attended weekly 30-minute sessions that helped him express himself, build confidence, and experience moments of pure happiness.

Heather, Lucas’s Mother Wrote:

I am shaking and crying right now! You all don’t know what a blessing this is to know he can get this music therapy! He is so excited to begin his sessions and I know he will have fun while doing this therapy, too, which is refreshing as most of his other therapy is not his favorite thing to do. Such an answer to prayer! You all are amazing!!!

“We are incredibly grateful to the Sundt Foundation for recognizing the importance of our mission,” said Taylor Smith, Executive Director of MPFC. “This grant allows us to expand our reach and provide life-changing opportunities for children who face daily obstacles most of us can only imagine.”
