Caleb, Age 9

Caleb, Age 9

Caleb is a sweet 9-year-old boy who suffered from a severe global brain injury when he was 4 years old. Caleb used to be a normally developed child, then one day, 5 years ago, he experienced severe hypoglycemia of unknown causes and was in a coma for 4 days. As a result, Caleb now needs 24/7 supervision for feeding, diaper changing, bathing, dressing, navigating his environment. He also has about 10 to 20 seizures daily.

In mid-March, Caleb’s parents saw signs of regression in his gross motor skills and fine motor skills due to the lack of schooling. They knew he needed help so they sent Caleb to the NAPA Center in Los Angeles in June for a 3-week intensive therapy for occupational therapy and physical therapy. The therapy sessions were very successful and they saw amazing progress. However, their outstanding bill was $3,600 after health insurance. Due to the pandemic, Caleb’s father’s hours were cut short and his family could not afford to pay the remaining amount. They reached out to MPFIC to help cover the additional cost that health insurance would not cover.

His therapists also suggested that Caleb do intensive therapy every 6 months to see more progress. MPFIC is also helping cover the costs of his next therapy session in December as well. We cannot wait to see more of Caleb’s improvements! To help kids like Caleb, please consider making a tax deductible donation today!
