Bennett, Age 5

Bennett, Age 5

Bennett is a sweet 5-year-old boy who was born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighed 1.2 pounds. Due to this, he has suffered from a brain bleed, hydrocephalus, and cerebral palsy.  He has had 5 brain surgeries and 2 eye surgeries. His parents have been taking Bennett to intensive therapies since he was 1 year old. They take him to two 3-week intensive therapies a year because that is all they can afford. Bennett is extremely globally delayed, but his parents notice a lot of improvement when he goes to intensive therapy. They also used to do weekly therapy sessions but had to stop going due to the expensive costs. His parents describe him as a fighter and MPFC has stepped in to help Bennett continue to see progress. We are helping fund his intensive therapy, LEAP, which is 3 sessions a day for 3 weeks.

Bennett is already walking and turning 100% independently for the first time in his walker. He normally needs lots of assistance to turn. We are so proud of the progress he is making and cannot wait to see his journey.
